## 指定規格の木材を用意するだけでベンチが作れる！？

 カシワバラさんの暮らし。の事務所用の棚を作った際にも大活躍だったシンプソン金具。DIYの本場・アメリカでトップシェアを誇る2×4材用コネクターメーカーと知られ、読者諸氏の中にも手に取ったことがある人もいるのではないでしょうか。今回、そんなシンプソン金具から、同メーカーの強みを最大限に生かしたキットが発売となる情報をゲット。テーブルや棚がラインナップされる中でも本記事はベンチをピックアップし、早速編集部員自ら製作に挑戦してみました。

 まずシンプソン金具の魅力は何と言っても、金具とビス等はキットに含まれているので指定規格の木材を用意するだけで組み立てることができる点。特殊な技術がいるような工程もなく、使う工具も電動ドライバー、金づちだけなので初心者の方でも気軽に挑戦しやすい内容になっているんです。   
それではキットの内容からご紹介します。

パッケージに載っているベンチが作ることができます。室内だけでなく、ベランダや庭などにレイアウトしてもよさそうなフォルムです。

### 材料

 今回は初めて製作なので、説明書に従って推奨の木材サイズで進めていきます。木材はすべてホームセンターで購入して、カットまで済ませました。もちろん道具を用意すれば現場でのカットでも問題なし。ただカットする面が斜めにならないようにご注意をください。

 キットのセット内容   
・リジッドタイRTA12 4個　・リジッドタイRTR 4個   
・トラスタッピングネジ 60本　・なみ釘 8本。   
木材（ホームセンターで購入）   
・木材A：2×6材 360mm 4枚　・木材B：2×6材 900mm 1枚   
・木材C：2×6材 1200mm 2枚

今回は塗装を行わなずに無垢のままでいきましたが、ワトコオイルやブライワックスなどで味付けするのもオススメ。金具の無骨なルックスと合わさって、グッと雰囲気を高めてくれます。

### 作り方

#### STEP.01 木材を横並びにしてなみ釘で固定

 360mmの木材A：2×6材を2枚づつ横並びにして、両面になみ釘を打ち込んで連結していきます。今回は編集部員に手で押さえてもらいながら作業を進めましたが、1人で行う場合はクランプで固定すると打ち込みやすいです。また同様に1200mmの木材C：2×6材もなみ釘を打ち込んで連結させましょう。

初めてのなみ釘でしたが、思った以上にサクサクといけました。しっかりと埋まるように最後まで打ち込んでください。

#### STEP.02 座面作り

 STEP.01で連結させた木材C：1200mmの板の中心に、木材B：900mmの板を置いてリジッドタイRTRを使って固定していきます。さしがねを使いながらバランスの良い位置でマーキングして2カ所留めていきましょう。

ビスを打ち込む際は木割れ防止のためにドリルビットで下穴を開けてから作業を進めていきましょう。一手間かかりますが、ビスも真っ直ぐ打ち込むことができます。
